Mark McLaughlin, M.D., Ph.D.
About me
My life was touched by cancer at an early age, as I lost both my grandfather and uncle/godfather to colon cancer while in elementary school. This personal loss, combined with my love for science, led me to study radiation chemistry. However, while completing my Ph.D., I had the opportunity to spend time directly with patients undergoing radiation treatment. I knew I wanted to be more directly involved in their care which led me to medical school and eventually radiation oncology. I chose Oklahoma Proton Center because I wanted to use the most advanced available radiation technology to treat cancer patients with minimal side effects. On touring the facility and meeting the staff, I was convinced that this was a place to receive compassionate, top-notch cancer care.
