Oklahoma Proton Center Celebrates 15 Years of Groundbreaking Cancer Treatment
Oklahoma Proton Center proudly celebrates its 15th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in its journey of providing innovative cancer treatment to patients from around the world.
Since opening in 2009, Oklahoma Proton Center has treated over 5,000 patients, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to excellence in cancer care. This remarkable achievement reinforces the center’s position as one of the busiest proton therapy centers in the country.
With just two proton centers in the state, Oklahoma Proton Center plays a vital role in ensuring access to proton therapy for residents of Oklahoma and surrounding states. The large number of patients treated here underscores the trust and confidence both patients and referring physicians have in Oklahoma Proton Center.
The Center’s journey is marked by several key highlights including treating patients from all 50 states and 15 different countries as well as treating over one hundred different cancer diagnoses.
The center has also been at the forefront of innovative treatment methods, such as pioneering the use of proton therapy for breast cancer. Proton therapy is beneficial for breast cancer patients as it minimizes damage to critical organs, such as the heart and lungs. This reduces the risk of side effects such as cardiac events or developing lung cancer or pneumonitis.
“The success of Oklahoma Proton Center is a reflection of our outstanding team of medical professionals,” said David Raubach, Chief Development Officer. “We are honored to have served so many patients and look forward to continuing our mission of providing exceptional care.”
Proton Therapy: A Game-Changer in Cancer Treatment
Proton therapy is an advanced form of radiation treatment that suits many types of cancers. Protons can be controlled to stop at a specific depth, concentrating the radiation dose inside the tumor. This can result in fewer short-term and long-term side effects compared to conventional radiation improving the quality of life for patients undergoing cancer treatment.
Doctor John Chang, Medical Director at the Center remarked, ” I’m honored to have contributed to the 15 years of success of Oklahoma Proton Center by delivering state-of-the-art cancer care in the Southern Midwest. Working with such an outstanding clinical team, who show immense compassion for our patients and take great pride in their work, is truly a blessing. Our excellent patient care is a testament to their dedication. We aspire to maintain our status as a center of excellence for at least another 15 years. God bless.
As Oklahoma Proton Center celebrates this milestone, it remains focused on the future, with plans to continue expanding its services and enhancing its treatment capabilities. The center is committed to staying at the forefront of cancer treatment, ensuring that patients receive the best care possible.
